Cosmetology

Our basic cosmetology program features design, cutting, coloring, multicultural techniques, makeup, fashion trends, and the art of hairdressing in a three-phase program we call CORE, ADAPTIVE, and CREATIVE.

CORE – Learn the rules! In this introductory course, you'll learn the basics that will let you confidently begin working on guests, and your Learning Leaders will help you blend professional skills with personal development.

ADAPTIVE – Apply the rules! Building on the skills you learned in CORE, this intermediate level teaches the value of time management, retailing, and the art of successful communication.

CREATIVE – Expand the rules! This final phase takes you through advanced hairdressing and chemical work. During your last months and weeks toward graduation, you'll spend your time in high gear, preparing yourself for your future salon career.

Career Opportunities

COSMETOLOGY: A GROWING INDUSTRY
A multitude of exciting career choices await the professional cosmetologist. You can design high-fashion hair for the runway, become a celebrity stylist, or work in print photography, television, opera, theater, ballet, or film. As your career progresses, you can become a platform artist, salon or spa manager or owner, educator, manufacturing consultant or artistic director, or retail specialist. In addition to hair design, the industry offers opportunities in skin care, makeup, aromatherapy, nail artistry, and sales and marketing. With an exceptional educational foundation, you’ll be able to choose from unlimited opportunities.

Night School

For your convenience, most Paul Mitchell Partner Schools offer you the opportunity to follow your dream, develop your creativity, and expand your career horizons with a schedule you can handle. The California Academy – A Paul Mitchell Partner School’s Night School offers the same great curriculum taught in our award-winning daytime classes.

About the Program

We offer our 1600 hour Cosmetology Program as a full time program and as a part time program. Our full time program takes approximately 11 months to complete and classes are held Tuesdays - Saturdays from 9:30a - 5p. Our part time program is offered Mondays - Thursdays from 5:30p - 10p and takes approximately 20 months to complete. Classes are limited to no more than 16 future professionals per class.
